Aaron A. Koonce
Attorney Aaron A. Koonce was born in Hammond, Indiana and has been a life-long resident of Lake County, Indiana. Aaron grew up in unincorporated Crown Point, attended Lake Central High School and graduated from Indiana University Bloomington. After working a few years in the Criminal Division of the Lake County Clerk’s Office, Aaron joined the United States Army and served as a paratrooper in the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). While serving, Aaron earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Troy University. After separating from the Army, Aaron worked for the Jesse Brown and Hines VA Hospitals. Aaron left the VA for The John Marshall Law School where he earned his Juris Doctor degree and co-founded the Law School’s chapter of Student Veterans of America.
Aaron currently serves as a contract Felony Public Defender and private attorney focusing on state and federal criminal defense, traffic law, criminal record expungement, civil law, real estate law and veterans advocacy. Aaron works closely with the Lake County Veterans Treatment Court where he serves as a board member and mentors fellow veterans. Aaron is a dedicated legal advocate and would be honored to serve your legal needs
